Just an update to say that the whistle arrived and it certainly is gorgeous. This one will probably get as much use (if not more) that my Howard.
On a related topic, Phil Hardy who makes these whistles was recently trying to get a workshop together in London for beginners and/or intermediate level players. I think it was for all whistles, not just low ones. If this sounds interesting to you, drop in to his site and register your interest and who knows it may happen. If it does, I'll see you there.
I won't bore you with the history, but a lot of people who know me ask why I often use the login name "lowwhister" on message boards. Well of course, when your name is Smith, you don't often get the chance to use your real name and on busy boards, you have to be creative. As the low whistle is one of my favourite instruments to play and the name has never yet been taken, it's just stuck. Anyway, I digress. Last week I had the great pleasure of playing a Chieftain low and it really blew me away. Gorgeous tone and fairly easy on the lungs too. I just found out that it was made down the road from me in Watford - so to support a local business I bought one! Can't wait for it to arrive and when it does, I hope it plays as well as the other one!
